Dowrah Jute

DOWRAH JUTE

This is jute, grown on the lands which are swamped by the branches of the river Ganges, containing muddy water, which imparts a grey colour to the fibre. It is very strong but hard and used principally for sackings and cordage. It is very rooty and has a barky fibre.
